Among those listed as wounded are two Army first lieutanants who were fighting in Germany with armored infantry battalion, and a cavalryman who was in the battle for the Burna Road. The cavalryman, Sergeant Don J. Maguire of Grantwood, was wounded while his troop was taking its second hill after killing six Nips. He was hit by a 25 caliber Jap bullet while relaying artillery fire directions in the midst of a fire fight with a platoon of Japs. The lieutanants are William C. Miller of Maywood, and Edwin Wood of Saddle River Township. According to the telegrans received by their families, both were only slightly wounded. The prisoners listed today are Pfc. Samuel Pruiksma of Saddle River, and Corporal Salvator Moreno Of Hackensack. Word of their capture was learned in prisoner-of-war cards from them to their families. Private Alessandrini was with the Fourth Marine Division and had been through the Marshall Saipan and Tinian Campaigns. A former Hackensack High School student, he was employed in the shipyards in Kearny when enlisted in February, 1943. He trained at Parris island, S.C.; New River, N.C.; and Camp Pendleton, Cal., and was sent overseas in January, 1944. Besides his mother, he is survived by a sister.
